aCommerce, an end-to-end ecommerce solutions provider, announced that it secured a $65-million investment to expand its Southeast Asia-wide operations, including in the Philippines.
“For the Philippines, the investment would mean we can invest in terms of technology, in our operations as well as where we are now which we called ‘brand ecommerce’, which is actually selling brands online,” said Quito San Agustin, aCommerce general manager in the Philippines.
He also said that as the company continues to grow, they are also putting a lot of investments for their people which are also growing fast in number. “We’re actually 140 people right now and 200 (maybe) within next year.”
With the investments, San Agustin said that aCommerce is now known to be a technology-led company though its is actually “a service-oriented company which helps brands go online”.
San Agustin said that they have a lot of business within ecommerce. “In terms of our business, brands have grown year-after-year, even our transactions online as well as our delivery. In terms of brand ecommerce, we had two clients last year. This year, we have partnered with 25 brands, so there are hundreds of brands now. It’s growing and happening in the Philippines. It’s a huge consumer base and brands are now switching on.”
San Agustin also said that in terms of growth, “we have filled the need for that three-and-half years. (The company started operating in 2013). We got a lot of goodies and a lot of growth.”
To support its growth in the Philippines, aCommerce is looking at expanding its fulfillment centers.
“The company has one fulfillment center (FC), a little over a thousand meters FC (at the start). Last August, it activated its second FC. It is now looking at having another FC, a mega FC just like in Thailand, a hybrid one – B2C as well as B2B. The Philippines is headed to a 10,000-square meter warehouse. It’s technology-driven. We’re looking at this investment sometime first half next year. On top of that, we’re also looking for a corporate office,” said San Agustin.
As an end-to-end solutions provider in the ASEAN, aCommerce is engaged in eDistribution, Digital Marketing, IT development, Multichannel retailing, Customer Service Fulfillment and Delivery. Aside from the Philippines, it also has presence in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
