“Filipinos are heavy mobile and internet users. Filipinos are also known as one of the most active social media users. Through social engineering or hacking of the human mind, careless and unaware Filipinos could be easy prey for cyber criminals. Kaspersky Lab Internet Security 2017 is equipped with new features designed to protect Filipinos and their devices. But more than installing an awesome security product on a device, being cyber savvy online matters the most. It is highly important to behave carefully online. Think security at all times,” said Anthony Chua, territory channel manager for the Philippines and Singapore at Kaspersky Lab Southeast Asia.

According to Chua, this protection can secure multiple devices with just one license. KIS 2017 features include antivirus, firewall, spam filter, parental control, phishing protection, as well as keeping software updated, and unused solution being detected and removed.

The new KIS release can protect data from being intercepted during an unsafe Internet connection with its Secure Connection, a new function which allows users to connect to the Internet safely by encrypting all data sent and received through the network. This enhancement prevents traffic interception that could result to financial losses. Secure Connection serves as a protective measure while traveling, and connecting to insecure Wi-Fi networks. A Kaspersky Lab study found out that one in five travelers was victimized by cyber criminals when traveling.

For added protection, the Secure Protection can be launched from the main window of KIS, and be activated automatically when the device is connected to a public Wi-Fi or the user is inputting confidential data online such as on banking websites, online stores, payment systems, e-mail and social networks.

Another enhancement that boosts the security solution is the Software Updater, which automatically scans PCs and checks which applications need to be updated. The user can also request the update of an application manually, or add any of them to the list of apps that should not be updated, if the older version is still required.

Using Software Cleaner, another new feature of the KIS 2017, junk files or temporary files and rarely-used apps which consume storage resources and pose potential risk can be searched and identified. Upon receipts of a report from Software Cleaner, the user can either remove or leave the application in question.

KIS 2017 has also been enhanced with advanced technologies, such as the multi-level protection of financial transactions (with Safe Money), prevention of the installation of unwanted applications (with Application Manager, part of the former Change Control feature), and blocking of advertising banners in the browser (with Anti-Banner).

KIS 2017 is compatible with Windows 10, Mac and Android OS, though features differ from platform to platform.

Users with security solution’s license can have 200MB of encrypted traffic at their daily disposal, and for an additional monthly or annual fee, they can get an unlimited volume of traffic.
