Transcend has launched the SSD220 SATA III 6Gb/s SSD, said to boast transfer speeds of up to 550MB/s to accelerate system boot-up and loading times, even as it comes at an economic price point. Transcend’s SSD220 has the full support of SATA Device Sleep Mode (DevSleep), prolonging notebook battery life by consuming up to 90% less power.
The SSD220s has received awards from Australia’s APC magazine for its performance at an economic price point. In APC’s budget SSDs round-up, the SSD220s was cited for “performing well and working hard to get the most from a SATA III connection.” It also supports AES 256-bit encryption, as well as low power DevSLP.
