The Internet can make or break your company — Converge ICT

Converge ICT leverages the capabilities of fiber technology in providing a more secure Internet connection. The company invested in delivering redundant security attributes for their Internet offerings. This security measures also include reliable firewalls, intrusion detection, and fully secure infrastructure. The company similarly ensures uninterrupted connectivity, with the capabilities of pure fiber technology delivering Internet connection that speeds up to 10Gbps.

The Internet has emerged as one of the most important products of digitalization. Over the years, it has revolutionized the way enterprises run certain business processes given its numerous benefits and positive implications. However, as it continues to yield new innovations, its uses also come at the price of new risks to security.

This is why, according to Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and president of Converge ICT, if the Internet is not secure enough, enterprises become susceptible to incidents of data theft and attacks from malicious programs that may compromise business activities. These cases, also called cyberattacks, may also cause the loss of sensitive data such as consumer information, employee records, trade secret information, and intellectual property. In a recent report by IBM, a global research firm, it was found that the number of cyberattacks across the globe now reached to 1.5 million cases annually. Seventy percent of these cases are left undetected and caused a total loss of $400 to $500 billion from its victims, including those from the business sector. Industry experts also predict that by 2019, these attacks are expected to cost of $2.1 trillion.

Internet users in the Philippines, composed mostly of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs), have also experienced these problems. Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) said that a total of 1,211 cybercrime incidents were filed with them from 2013 to 2015.

While these cases appear as an inevitable circumstance, business organizations should understand that Internet service providers (ISPs) play a vital role in minimizing, if not eliminating its occurrence.

“The Internet can either make or break your company. That is why it is important to know how your Internet provider ensures your protection from cyberattacks,” explained Uy. “ISPs are also the front lines in Internet security. With our access to the network servers, where data passes through, we can help detect possible cyber intrusions before they reach their target.”

In some cases, cyberattacks proliferate through malware and spyware that are usually sent by the hackers through e-mail. ISPs can also reduce, if not eradicate, the intrusion of these malicious programs and therefore lessen the attacks on critical business infrastructures.

“These solutions, however, can only be achieved if the provider adheres to the basic protocol of enabling their customers to gain high standards of security and seamless connectivity,” explained Uy.

In response to this demand, Converge ICT leverages the capabilities of fiber technology in providing a more secure Internet connection. It also allows for symmetric connectivity in which the uploading and downloading speeds are relatively similar. Hence, subscribers experience speedy Internet browsing, fast transfer of data online, seamless telephone calls, among others. Furthermore, in the case of technical problems, customer service lines are also open 24/7 to address technical concerns.

The company’s lines now cover provinces like Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Bulacan, Bulacan, and Bataan. It has also connected its fiber-powered capabilities in Metro Manila including Las Piñas, Manila, Quezon City, Cainta, Marikina, Makati, Pasig, Taguig, CAMANAVA Area, and Pasay.
