Internet TV service provider iflix, in collaboration with its partners Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) and Smart Communications, has announced to provide PLDT Home and Smart subscribers tens of thousands of hours of TV shows and movies without the need of signing up and extra cost.
“We are thrilled to share the gift of entertainment to all PLDT Home and Smart subscribers. It has been an incredible year for iflix, and our latest collaboration is a testament of our commitment to give as many people as possible access to the best in entertainment from across the world,” said Sherwin dela Cruz, iflix Philippines Country Manager.
The gift of entertainment comes in various forms. Starting mid-December, Smart will provide its customers a three-month iflix subscription bundled with their existing service at no additional cost. On the other hand, all DSL, Fibr, uLTEra, TVolution, and Telpad subscribers will be given 12-month iflix subscription without extra charges. This is applicable for five devices.
The partnership has also launched the first-of-its-kind instant iflix access for Smart customers. To access their subscription, eligible Smart subscribers simply go to iflix.com or the iflix app, without signing up or signing in. The iflix system will instantly recognize the user is on a Smart connection, and will tag that device using proprietary technology – be it a phone, laptop, desktop or tablet – and enable iflix on that device to let the user watches iflix wherever, whenever.
Mobile phones serve as passport in watching iflix. Smart subscribers, both postpaid and prepaid, can download shows to their mobile phone or tablet to watch their favorite shows even when they are offline for three months at no extra cost.
Another service feature is the iflix access to BigBites 15. For Php15, the service comes with 300MB to enjoy two full-length movies or bring on five episodes of a TV series. The service works in the user’s device for seven days where a subscriber can even download the movies/TV series and watch offline.
Ariel Fermin, PLDT and Smart EVP and Head of Consumer Business, said that the partnership has introduced gift of entertainment in various forms to provide customers tens of thousands of hours of Philippines’ favorite TV shows and movies with no need to sign up or sign in.
An iflix subscription allows a user to access the service on up to five devices, including phones, laptops, tablets, and television sets for viewing anywhere, anytime and can download TV shows and movies for offline viewing at a monthly rate of P129. A complimentary 30-day trial period is offered to new subscribers, including full access to iflix service, features and contents.
iflix, which is now operating in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, will penetrate other key Southeast Asian markets in the coming months. Offering a library of Hollywood, Asian, and local TV shows and movies available in the region, the Internet TV service provider has 1.1 million subscribers across the region, half of which comprises consumers in the Philippines since it was locally launched six months ago. An average viewer in the Philippines watches iflix contents for 169 minutes a day.
