ePLDT, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) arm of the PLDT Group, has announced that its VITRO Data Center in Pasig is now the first data center in the country to receive the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) Version 3.1 certification by Controlcase.
Created by a consortium of international credit card companies, the PCI Data Security Standard is a stringent set of standards and protocols that protect cardholder data from credit card fraud. Controlcase audited, assessed and certified VITRO Pasig’s physical space, data storage, and security profiles according to the international standard’s established guidelines.
The flagship of the VITRO Network of Data Centers, VITRO Pasig scores another milestone in meeting global standards for quality and compliance. With this latest certification, companies are assured that their IT infrastructure hosted within the data center can enable safe and secure financial transactions.
VITRO Pasig’s other notable world-class certifications also include: ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Management System, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System, ISO 20000-1:2011 Information Security Management System, and ISO 22301:2012 Business Continuity Management System.
“Credit card transactions represent an essential and sizable volume of business for the banking and financial industry, as well as eCommerce players. PCI Data Security Standard assures companies that they may confidently and securely host data, platforms and applications in VITRO. This also will serve organizations who have customers that require PCI-compliant local facilities – making VITRO truly world class,” says PLDT FVP and Head of PLDT ALPHA Enterprise Jovy Hernandez.
“As more businesses make the journey to e-commerce and online transactions, PCI DSS compliance becomes absolutely crucial to guard against growing cybercrime and online fraud incidents. It definitely adds more value to VITRO customers and prospective collocators, as the certification elevates their respective IT setups to the next level of trust and security. Enterprise organizations can now choose to host their critical financial data and systems in a PCI DSS certified data center facility, allowing them to uphold corporate reputation and protect confidential information of end users,” says ePLDT Group Chief Operating Officer Nerisse S. Ramos.
“Adhering to globally-embraced operational standards is part of our mandate to keep attuned with the needs of enterprises, with our VITRO Network of Data Centers playing a key role. This new security standard assures secure online transactions for companies and their customers. This further lays the groundwork for greater eCommerce adoption in our country. This way, VITRO provides a strong foundation to foster the transformation towards a more digital enterprise,” says ePLDT President and CEO and PLDT/Smart EVP and Head of Enterprise, International, and Carrier Business Eric R. Alberto.
