PLDT has recently announced its partnership with global leader Akamai, becoming the first local channel partner of one of the world’s largest Content Delivery Network (CDN) service providers and the first telecom company in the country to offer a full suite of CDN solutions for enterprises.
The alliance is seen to boost businesses’ Internet experience through faster content availability and access. Akamai is the leading provider of CDN services for delivering, optimizing and securing online content and business applications. Distributed across the globe in over 110 countries, the Akamai Intelligent Platform™ delivers secure, high-performing web experiences on any device, from any location, and delivers over two trillion Internet transactions daily.
This advanced capability, combined with PLDT’s nationwide network, will be of great benefit to Philippine enterprises. For one, they will be able to provide their markets with a faster, high quality and more secure web experience. It will also reduce the risk on data theft through its extensive suite of web security solutions. Media delivery is also enhanced with download rates improving through faster performance.
PLDT and Akamai’s partnership is notably valuable given the continuous growth in the use of digital channels for companies to reach their markets. As content management and distribution become more ubiquitous, enterprises would need reliable systems such as those offered by PLDT and Akamai to ensure their customers are able to access their companies’ information when and where they need it.
“Today, digital content — whether it’s video, other shareable visuals, or even other online applications – has proven to be an indispensable tool for companies to reach their customers,” shared PLDT FVP and Head of PLDT ALPHA Enterprise Jovy Hernandez. “Our alliance with Akamai puts us in the perfect position to support our enterprise clients as they leverage on digital technology to create more meaningful connections with their own customers, by enabling them to optimize web and mobile user experiences.”
“Furthermore, this strategic alliance will enable us to deliver and manage content delivery from anywhere in the world, as we leverage on Akamai’s reach and scale with more than 200,000 servers globally – still with the most number of servers versus other CDNs to date,” added Hernandez.
“With an increasing number of users going online to shop, complete banking transactions, connect via social networks and access content, companies need to be able to provide fast, reliable and secure experiences to their customers across devices,” said Graeme Beardsell, Managing Director, Markets, Asia Pacific & Japan, Akamai Technologies.
