Lazada updates mobile app

Lazada has launched an updated mobile app, as it aims to reach the growing number of mobile users that could rewach over 10 million within the year. The app is now available to download for free in AppStore for iOS users and Google Play Store for Android users.

Lazada has launched an updated mobile app, as it aims to reach the growing number of mobile users that could reach over 10 million within the year. The app is now available to download for free in AppStore for iOS users and Google Play Store for Android users.

The updated mobile app has an improved design and in-app features. The new homepage menus show more campaigns and product deals, shopping guides and flash sales on bigger promo banners that are updated daily. The app also has a brand tab containing top Lazada partners as well as latest brands and product launches in one tap; and a real-time order tracker where customers can view the order status anytime, anywhere. In addition, it has a category tabs for easy navigation for specific shopping needs.

Inanc Balci, co-founder and CEO of Lazada Philippines, said that mobile is very important to Lazada as users of mobile devices are potential customers, especially now that more than 50% of their sales volume are coming from mobile platform and apps, mobile Web sites and tablets, and continue increasing.

For shoppers to have a risk-free shopping, the updated Lazada mobile app offers a cash-on delivery payment where everyone can pay in cash when their orders deliver on their doorsteps.

The privacy of customers and their purchases is very important to Lazada. According to Balci, security is not a law to Lazada but a commitment to their customers.

“We use a single platform in all our markets,” said Balci. “We have an in-house fraud team that consists of 20 people in the Philippines. In Vietnam, we have a regional security team whose job is to make sure that the security of customers’ information is continuous.”

For the period January to June, Balci said that most of their customers comprised of smartphone users. About 67% of visits on their site using mobile apps happened between 9am to 3pm and 6pm to 12 midnight; and 30% of visits were done on Friday.

Balci also claimed that he expects electronic products to be the top category in terms of sales volume, followed by baby products.
