The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), through PLDT SME Nation, partnered with Microsoft Philippines to bring digital learning to academic institutions through the Digital Campus Suite, a new service package that provides students and academes access to online learning programs and earn certifications for IT skills.
The Digital Campus Suite offers schools with connectivity powered by PLDT myDSL Biz or iGate, and online access to training courses of the Microsoft IT Academy Program.
“This partnership can significantly contribute to enriching the digital content of Philippine education. By enabling schools through these programs, we are helping them, both educators and students, to gain new critical skills and learn IT courses with globally competitive technology programs that have become essential in today’s digital work place,” said PLDT chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.
Licenses to cloud-based Microsoft Office 365 will also be given to schools, allowing faculty and students to utilize enterprise-grade tools and solutions. The Digital Campus Suite offerings also include laptops, tablets, and Wi-Fi access points in the campus.
Both teachers and students are given access to Microsoft’s digital curriculum of fundamental technology and technical courses, and earn IT certifications on specializations offered in the Microsoft IT Academy Program, making students or graduates more competitive for employment.
“This initiative fully aligns with PLDT SME Nation’s efforts to empower the future generation with an ICT-enabled education system. ICT skills are no longer just added value to employment but are now necessities in today’s business and entrepreneurial landscape,” said PLDT FVP and head of SME Business Kat Luna-Abelarde.
