Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO continues to make its presence felt in the local market with the launch of the Joy 3, a budget handset that succeeds the Joy Plus smartphone announced a couple of months ago.
Retailing for only Php6,490, the Joy 3 runs OPPO’s Android-based ColorOS 2.0 operating system on a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTeck MT6582 chipset. It offers 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage and features a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB of external storage.
Sporting a metallic frame, the OPPO features a 4.5” IPS TFT display that offers 854×480 pixel resolution.
The 3G handset boasts a 5-megapixel rear camera with OPPO’s Pure Image 2.0+ technology while the front is just 2-megapixels.
The camera, which can record HD videos, offers a bunch of other options such as HDR, Panorama, Beautify, and other modes. The camera’s Double Exposure feature overlaps two photos to create a unique virusal effect. It also has a GIF feature which converts multiple shots taken in quick succession into an animated image format. The audio photo feature basically mashes up images, sound and animation into a ten-second clip.
The phone supports screen-off and screen-on gestures, allowing you to wake the device by simply double-tapping the screen, play or pause music by sliding two fingers up or down, or jump directly to the camera app by drawing a cricle, among other things.
The phone has a Dual SIM and a 2,000mAh battery. Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and USB OTG. It is available in two colors: matte gray and glossy white.
