Enticed by the country’s well-educated and skilled workforce with professional attitude, US-based technology firm, Emerson, has announced the opening of its US$35-million new shared service facility in Quezon City designed to use for training and services to its global, regional and local customers, and accommodate future growth.
This new investment, coupled with the Emerson Process Management engineering and service center which opened in June 2014 in Pasig City, brings to US$55-million Emerson’s total investment in the Philippines for the past year. The company has another facility in Mandaluyong City.
Located at SM Cyber West Avenue in EDSA corner West Avenue, the new facility will initially accommodate 2,300 employees.
“Investing in the Philippines to access its educated, skilled and professional-minded workforce, is a key element of our strategy to succeed in Asia,” said David N. Farr, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Emerson. “This new facility allows us to accommodate additional employees and provide the necessary training infrastructure to ensure our customers receive first-class services and offerings.”
The company offers its employees facilities dedicated for specialized functions to hone their talents in a comfortable working environment. These include the Integrated Solutions Center which features technologies and solutions of the different Emerson business platforms. The center will allow customers to experience the company’s solutions that optimize process efficiency and remote diagnostics.
Center for professional development
To bridge the gap between field experience and classroom training, the company also put up the Emerson Process Management’s Technical Learning Center which aims to enhance professional development of its in-house technical engineers and customers.
It also has an Emerson Climate Technologies Partner+ Technical & Training Center which provides HVACR contractors with training and education on the basics of advanced refrigeration principles. The comprehensive service program offered to HVACR contractors and end-users aims to empower them to make sound business decisions and improve job performance.
“With globalization, customers are expecting a team with an international mindset and technical knowledge,” said Phil Kelaart, Vice President and General Manager at Emerson in the Philippines. “Our team in the Philippines has the capability and drive to provide these high quality services. We also have the added bonus of providing customers with specialized facilities for our Process Management and Climate Technologies business.”
With employees that grown from a few hundreds to approximately 4,400 in 2014, the local office of Emerson offers support for the company and its customers in the areas of accounting, customer support, finance, information technology, human resources, marketing, business development and supply chain management.
