Employees of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) are now using a standardized productivity cloud service that would make day-to-day communication across the entire organization more efficient and collaborative.
Through Microsoft’s Office 365, PAL will benefit from modern collaborative technologies like instant messaging, video conferencing, portals, and even social media for the workplace using Yammer.
Office 365 also provides the different business units online access to the latest version of Microsoft Office.
“To meet the demands of the airline industry, we need to adapt to the latest trends in cloud computing and mobility in order to keep pace with our competitors. Office 365 provides such kind of technology that augurs well for our business,” said PAL President & COO Ramon S. Ang.
PAL joins at least 10 other airlines in Asia which have already deployed Microsoft’s cloud solutions through Office 365 including Qantas Airways, Japan Airlines and Tiger Airways.
Microsoft says it is helping redefine and shape new experiences for pilots, flight crews and passengers. Airlines with improved IT budgets and eagerness to implement new solutions are finding that Microsoft’s wealth of offerings, like tablets, cloud services like Office 365 and Yammer, and powerful Windows 8.1 operating system deliver tried-and-true enterprise-level devices and services to airlines.
Focusing on three major areas, Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), in-flight customer service, and in-flight entertainment, Microsoft is helping companies which adopt these new technologies stay a step above the competition.
