Maynilad expects to further boost operational efficiency as it moves towards implementing more IT centralization and control with PLDT ALPHA Enterprise and SMART Enterprise solutions.

The utility company’s latest innovation is the Field MOuS (Field Monitoring User System), a customized SMART M2M (Machine to Machine)-enabled solution that generates real-time operational status and other essential data from Maynilad’s extensive areas.

The data that the system provides include water pressure along the line, flows, reservoir levels, and plant production.

“We have a water treatment plant which is connected online, and it generates an accurate hourly production snapshot,” shared Maynilad CIO Francisco Castillo.  Maynilad’s monitoring and response capabilities have been reduced to milliseconds — a far cry, Castillo said, from the usual day-long process.

The availability of live technical field data translates to faster response times for any eventuality along Maynilad’s lines, as well as enhanced customer service.  More importantly, it can help Maynilad significantly decrease system loss and pilferage.

“With these IT solutions, we are able to view all systems and react swiftly,” said Castillo.  “Whether it’s a leakage or a breakage, or customer complaints, we can immediately respond because we already know well beforehand what specific issues affect certain areas.”

Maynilad’s Field MOuS is seen as a key factor for Maynilad to achieve 100% real time monitoring capability throughout its systems by the year’s end.  It consolidates other IT solutions provided by PLDT ALPHA Enterprise such as Hosted Exchange, as well as Maynilad’s Disaster Preparedness and Continuity contingencies at off-site VITRO Data Centers.

“Technology certainly plays a great role is improving efficiency and capability in many areas, including Maynilad’s water networks,” shared PLDT FVP and Head of PLDT ALPHA Enterprise and SMART Enterprise Sales and Marketing Jovy Hernandez.  “As the Internet of Everything (IoE) moves from buzzword to reality, it is necessary for businesses to maximize technology’s boundless potential for driving growth and creating value. “

The sentiment is shared by Castillo, who also disclosed Maynilad’s plans to adopt PLDT Cloud solutions as well as utilize other data center solutions. “We hope to see improved SLAs because of PLDT ALPHA Enterprise and SMART Enterprise’s seamless integration, ultimately yielding us better service levels and more products for customers to choose from,” said Castillo.
