3D printing is triggering the rise of individualism in manufacturing. World-renowned Autodesk Technical Evangelist Lynn Allen said that the notion that “Everyone’s a Designer” is changing the worlds of design and manufacturing and has started impacting the building industry as well.

Allen recently delivered the the keynote presentation at the ‘Autodesk Solutions Day’ in Manila. During the daylong event, the global technology company showcased it 3D design solutions for the various industries it covers (architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) and manufacturing).

In her session, Lyn shared what the future holds for design technology and how Autodesk is creating innovative solutions for the market. Allen shared that one of the most exciting trend the world is witnessing is the growing significance of infinite computing.

The old paradigm of ‘design-then-analyse’ is transforming into one where we can use the cloud to analyse thousands of options in parallel, helping us create the best possible designs.

Another compelling trend is the rise of individualism in manufacturing through 3D printing. Elaborating this trend, Lynn Allen shares that the notion that ‘Everyone’s a Designer’ is changing the worlds of design and manufacturing and has started impacting the building industry as well.

With this trend Autodesk anticipates increased use of 3D printing amongst local manufacturers as nearly anyone with an idea can now turn concepts into reality overnight and scale globally.

Allen added that as 3D printing continues to grow and become a part of the mainstream, the gap between individual artisans, hobbyists, and entrepreneurs on one side, and large manufacturers on the other side, will continue to close.

As individuals with bright ideas gain the power of manufacturing and as large manufacturers gain the ability to create more individualistic products, consumers can look forward to the ultimate result of better product choices in the marketplace.

Being optimistic about the future of design, Allen shared that Autodesk is very closely aligned to industry trends and continues to believe in innovating and providing industry practitioners with the right set of tools so that they are empowered to work and become more successful and competitive.

Furthermore, Allen shared that mobile, cloud and social computing technologies are driving a fundamental shift in computing, making it accessible anytime and anywhere with a virtually infinite amount of computing power. According to her an emerging market like the Philippines will definitely see increased spending on cloud computing technology with the upsurge use of smart connected devices.

Autodesk Philippines Country Manager Teddy D. Tiu expressed that the event is a testament to Autodesk’s dedication to the Philippines market. He further added that by bringing speakers like Allen along with other industry and technology experts,  Autodesk provides local practitioners the much needed technology and industry insights and trends, which we hope they will find vital and useful as they do their
businesses.

Tiu shared that in most parts of the world including the Philippines, computing is the least expensive resource used to solve a problem.

But the increase in computer processing, bandwidth, storage, affordability, and ubiquity now allows us to deploy hundreds, even thousands, of computers to help solve the growing number of challenges faced as designers, engineers and artists, shared Tiu.

Tiu highlighted that Autodesk aims to continuously deliver the best solutions and design tools to its Philippine customers from both the professional and consumer markets. In fact, Autodesk released earlier this year its new 2015 Design Suites.

Each Autodesk 2015 Design Suite includes AutoCAD 2015, the most advanced AutoCAD yet. A new interface and enhanced productivity tools enable customers to experience a new standard in design and documentation. Furthermore, the Autodesk portfolio now has something for everyone involved in making products and projects come to life, in addition to designers and engineers. Users will notice a difference in how much easier it is to get their work done with the Autodesk 2015 Design Suites.
