Globe’s Yo! app enables affordable overseas calls and texts

Developed exclusively for Globe with Pinoy transient migrants, tourists, vacationers and travelers in mind, “Yo!” enables affordable calls and texts to any mobile and landline number in the world using a smartphone.

Globe Telecom, through its International Business Group, recently gave more reasons for Filipinos frequently traveling abroad to keep in touch with people who matter most back home by launching its traveler app “Yo!,” a voice over internet (VoIP) service which keeps communication lines open across countries at a lower cost.

Developed exclusively for Globe with Pinoy transient migrants, tourists, vacationers and travelers in mind, “Yo!” enables affordable calls and texts to any mobile and landline number in the world using a smartphone with the downloaded app via Google Play Store and Apple Store. It assigns a virtual Globe mobile number to the account after registration, enabling both incoming and outgoing calls to a mobile and landline number, and more importantly, letting users who are frequent flyers to foreign countries save on communication costs.

Globe Senior Vice President for International Business Rizza Maniego-Eala said that, “as a company who is always on the lookout to give our kababayans more value for their money while staying connected with family and friends in the Philippines, we are pleased to offer them our new service ‘Yo!.’  Pinoy overseas travelers will appreciate it as a complete communications application which will empower them to converse any way they want – through calls, chats and texts – but will be light on their pockets. ‘Yo!’ is now here for them to enjoy and use to the fullest.”

Offering a complete suite of services, “Yo!” lets its users make free “Yo!”-to-“Yo!” calls and instant messaging, or between two devices with the app. “Yo!” calls to Globe and TM numbers in the Philippines are also available at P4 per minute, and $0.40 per minute for other networks around the world. Sending SMS can also be done from “Yo!” to Globe and TM subscribers back home at P2 per text, and at P15 to other networks worldwide. “Yo!” users may reload their account through Globe Prepaid call cards and e-Pins, Share-a-Load, International Autoload Max, as well as through credit cards, partner banks and GCash.

Pinoys flying abroad who are looking for low-cost means to communicate across the seas can already start downloading “Yo!”  to their iPhones, iPads and Android-powered devices via the Apple Store and Google Play Store by searching for “Yoclick.” To register, they have to open the app, select “Create Account,” and fill out the form. A confirmation message with their unique “Yo!” number will appear. They just need a mobile data or a Wi-Fi connection to start using “Yo!.”
