Selfie addicts will love Huawei’s new Ascend G6 which was launched May 31 during the opening of the company’s first brand shop in the Philippines.
The Ascend G6 is similar in design and interface as the aspirational Ascend P6. The difference is the much lower price which dropped to PhP 8,990 during the launch. The discounted Ascend G6 also came with a selfie pod or monopod, perfect for taking selfies and group shots or ‘groufies’.
The Ascend G6 boasts an 8-megapixel camera with AF BSI f/2.0 aperture in the rear and a 5-megapixel front camera. You can take detailed 88-degree wide-angle shots and explore creative options with additional features such as multi-shot capture, horizontal shooting and panoramic functions.
The Ascend G6 is also equipped with Huawei’s signature Voice Photo function which allows you to control the shutter using only your voice. Using the same feature you can take a photo accompanied by a 10-second audio clip.
Other photography features include: Huawei’s proprietary self-focus tips, preview screen, audio controlled spontaneous snapping, auto-scene recognition and auto-facial enhancement.
The Ascend G6’s 4.5-inch qHD 960 x 540 LCD display is encased in a 7.5 mm body, weighing 115g.
The unit takes after the Ascend P6’s ‘double C’ design which feels good in the hands and looks sleeker than most smartphones of the same price range. The Ascend G6 is available in a range of colors including black with light gunmetal grey or rose gold highlights and white with pink or champagne gold highlights.
Running on a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor and a 2000 mAh lithium polymer battery, the Ascend G6 allows you to multitask and have fun for much longer. It also has up to 30 percent power saving feature.
In addition, the Ascend G6 features the company’s Emotion UI 2.0, a unique user interface that’s intuitive and easy-to-use. It allows you to customize your homescreen with nearly 1,000 online themes, as well as ‘Standard’ and ‘Simplicity’ UIs for effortless navigation.
The Huawei Ascend G6 is available in Huawei’s concept stores at SM North EDSA and SM Megamall, both located at the Annex Cyberzone. The Ascend G6 is available at the suggested retail price of PhP 9,990.
The unit also has an LTE version, which will arrive a later date.
Located at the 4th floor of SM North EDSA Annex Cyberzone, the Huawei Brand shop showcases a complete range of devices including smartphones, mobile broadband, phablets and tablets, suited to consumers’ lifestyle and can be acquired at an affordable price and without compromise.
“Huawei’s concept shops aspire to be the forefront of mobile devices bringing its consumers nothing but the latest, said Charles Wu, country manager of Huawei Technologies Philippines.
“We have expansion plans in place to open additional stores in key cities in the Philippines. The launch of our store in SM North EDSA is just first of the many this year.”
