D-Link International Pte Ltd, considered as one of the world’s biggest suppliers of networking products today announced that they have taken the number one position in consumer 11AC routers in the third quarter of 2013, according to a new report by ABI Research. The technology market intelligence company reports that “D-Link topped the consumer Wi-Fi shipment market with a 12.7% market share” for that quarter.
The report states: “The worldwide Wi-Fi customer premises equipment marketing including access points, routers and gateway shipments surpassed 139.1 million in 2013. 802.11ac devices are expected to represent 45% of consumer Wi-Fi shipments at the end of 2014.”
Jonathan Quek, product marketing director for D-Link International Pte Ltd said: “We have seen an increase in demand for more bandwidth and faster Wi-Fi, as users are carrying multiple mobile devices for on-the-go connectivity. Leading the market in consumer Wi-Fi shipment, we aim to set 11AC as the new standard for better coverage and Wi-Fi access.”
Quek added: “On top of the current range of 11AC routers, access points and network adapters, D-Link will also be adding more devices to our suite of networking solutions and upgrading features of existing products to meet the varying needs of consumers.”
The report from ABI research gives comprehensive coverage of the global consumer and enterprise WLAN equipment market. It is based on quarterly shipment data and forecasts.
