Microsoft Philippines has unveiled new features and capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, its flagship enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. The enhancements allow organizations to take advantage of cloud services, run agile operations that exceed customer needs, and help fuel growth.
According to Microsoft Corporation’s Director of Public Marketing, Ricky K Gangsted-Rasmussen, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is a “powerful solution” as it serves five sectors namely manufacturing, distribution, professional services, retail, and the public sector. “Its architecture is modern, works like other Microsoft technology and built on Microsoft platform.”

Ricky Gangsted-Rasmussen, Worldwide Director of Product Marketing for Microsoft Business Solutions ERP talks about the new Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 R3.
One of the latest features of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is the new and integrated warehouse and transportation management capabilities which help businesses provide customers with real-time end-to-end insights into supply-chain execution. And with a few clicks of a button, organizations can quickly act on the changing requirements of their customers. With this release is the New Lifecycle Services that help companies improve the predictability of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 implementations by simplifying and standardizing processes, and bringing innovative and integrated experiences for serviceability and support.
Early adoption of New Lifecycle Services has showed that customers have been able to significantly reduce time spent to define, develop and operate their business application. For example, in cases where early adopters needed incident support, more than 65% of them were able to address issues and questions on their own through the use of this service.
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 offers a new end-to-end apps and services framework that allows businesses to develop and distribute modern apps for specific scenarios and mobile devices that can easily and securely connect with Microsoft Dynamics AX. The framework uses the cloud (Windows Azure) for communication between the mobile device and Microsoft Dynamics AX, with identity provider Microsoft ADFS. Aside from this, there’s also a new app for shop floor operators which let them report on production jobs with touch-enabled Windows devices.
Gangsted-Rasmussen mentioned that Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 can enable customers to develop mobile applications in case they want their ERP systems to be more mobile, free of charge.
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 also adds support for deployment on Microsoft AzureInfrastructure as-a-Service, a feature that delivers high availability of data and disaster recovery data, as critical business data is stored in the cloud and can be retrieved by businesses virtually anytime, anywhere. To speed deployment, and significantly reduce time to value from Microsoft Dynamics AX, for demonstration, development, testing and production usage, pre-configured environments are also available in Windows Azure.
To strengthen the advantage of using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, Microsoft released a commissioned Forrester Consulting TEI (Total Economic Impact) study conducted in December 2013 to 6,700 business decision makers around the world. Based on the study, the total economic impact of running Microsoft Dynamics AX in an organization is that it had a three-year ROI of 92%, a full payback period of 21 months, and benefits of over $6 million, showcasing the real benefit and time to value this solution delivers to customers.
Another study conducted by Ovum Research in August 2013 showed that more than 70% of global preferred vendors opted for Microsoft Dynamics AX for their next investment in ERP suite of applications. This shows that Microsoft Dynamics AX is an increasingly attractive option for organizations looking to augment their legacy ERP systems with capable enterprise apps that are easy to deploy and integrate.
