Nissan today announced the launch of two global sedans in the Philippines – the all-new Nissan Altima and the all-new Nissan Sylphy. The event also signals the start of operations for the company in the Philippines, marking a renewed presence for Nissan Motor Corporation in the country.
The all-new Altima has the signature dynamic driving performance for which it has earned acclaim from previous Altima iterations. To this, the all-new model adds premium design and comfort inspired by the Nissan Teana. This combination offers a refreshing and dynamic – yet comfortable – driving experience. Powered by either the new QR25 or VQ35DE engine, both matched with the next-generation Xtronic transmission, the new Altima delivers responsive acceleration and excellent fuel economy. Furthermore, a newly designed rear multi-link suspension system endows Altima with impressive maneuverability.
As Nissan’s mainstream mid-size sedan, the all-new Sylphy provides value which goes beyond convention, offering numerous attributes which define and enhance ownership experience and customer value. Sylphy anchors itself to best-in-class fuel economy by utilizing either the new MRA8DE engine or GR16DE engine, both matched with the next-generation Xtronic transmission.
At the launch event, to demonstrate the new possibilities enabled by the new company, NPI showcased the Nissan Almera NISMO Aero Package, inspired by Nismo’s motorsport technologies. Almera, which was launched in the Philippines in January 2013, is one of the best-selling models in the current line-up, encompassing approximately 20% of total sales under the Nissan brand.
“The introduction of Altima and Sylphy represents Nissan’s renewed presence in the Philippines with true global resources and a strong commitment to the market,” said Takao Katagiri, Nissan Motor Corporation executive vice president. “Today marks the start of a new chapter for Nissan in the Philippines and one that I am very proud to be part of.”
Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) started operations as the new national sales company for the Philippines on March 1. The company intends to reinforce brand and sales power across the nation by broadening the product lineup and strengthening its sales and services network. NPI sets an ambitious goal to sell over 8,900 units in fiscal year 2014.
“The establishment of Nissan Philippines brings Nissan in the Philippines together into one, stronger entity – ‘One Nissan, One Direction’,” said Kenji Naito, president of NPI. “I am confident that NPI will pave the way to a bolder and more proactive Nissan in this fast-growing market, with a strengthened brand and enhanced sales power.”
