Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad), the largest water concessionaire in terms of customer base in the Philippines, has implemented SAP Fiori to simplify user experience and improve employee productivity.
SAP Fiori is a collection of 25 applications for the most common business functions, redefining the way business users perform their daily tasks by creating a more intuitive user and format experience. SAP Fiori offers users a simple, easy-to-use experience for SAP software functions, and works seamlessly on desktops, tablets, or smartphones anytime, anywhere.
Dr. Francisco C. Castillo, Maynilad’s Chief Information Officer (voted as one of the most outstanding CIOs in South East Asia by the International Data Group), said the company chose SAP Fiori because of its simplicity, user-friendliness, and ability to shorten the learning curve against the traditional SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) transaction code-based interface.
SAP Fiori has streamlined Maynilad’s business processes and improved employee productivity by providing convenient, easy access to key business functions. “We selected SAP Fiori mainly for mobility—to approve purchase requests and purchase orders, and conduct transactions using tablets or smartphones in a secure environment,” Castillo said.
He added that with SAP Fiori, executives are presented just the right information that they need to make quick decisions rather than given an overload of possibilities and choices. “They want things done in a straightforward and simple manner without losing valuable time,” Castillo said.
As for Maynilad’s future plans, Castillo reiterated that the company’s automation will never stop.
“In today’s business environment, efficiencies can be derived only through technology,” he said. “And since Maynilad is also using SAP ERP, we have lined up a number of programs and projects aimed at addressing the following: timely and accurate information, mobility and accessibility, as well as standardization of processes.”
Business enterprises that can meet their customers’ demands faster have a distinct competitive advantage,” said Darren Rushworth, Managing Director, SAP Philippines. “SAP Fiori enables Maynilad’s employees to perform transactions from devices, hence ensuring that the company can address the needs of its customers faster and more efficiently.”
Under its Concession Agreement with the Philippine Government, Maynilad has exclusive rights to provide water and wastewater services to the West Zone of the greater Metro Manila area until year 2037.
After its re-privatization in January 2007, Maynilad embarked on a massive water service transformation program that resulted in dramatic service improvements for nearly 8 million people.
The company also earned over 80 ISO certifications and more than 30 awards from local and international award-giving bodies.
Net4site was chosen by Maynilad to implement SAP Fiori, the first implementation of its kind in the Philippines.
“Our task was to spearhead the implementation of SAP Fiori and address Maynilad’s need to access information quickly and through any available device,” said CK Singla, President, Net4Site.
