Lenovo has rolled out the Miix 2, an 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet powered by an Intel Bay Trail-T 1.8 GHz quad-core processor and with a Php21,999 price tag.
Michael Ngan, country general manager, Lenovo Philippines, emphasized that the Miix 2 is the first Windows tablet that offers 3G connectivity via a built-in Micro SIM card slot.
The Miix2’s 800-by-1280-pixel display provides 10 touch points, but it can also be used with a stylus for more precise work. Lenovo offers an optional stylus and a detachable cover. The cover can be folded to form a stand to hold the tablet upright. The cover’s price is not yet available.
Users can also turn the tablet 180° and insert it into an optional keyboard base to engage Miix 2’s third mode, Stand Mode, to watch movies or view photos.
Weighing only 350 grams and just 0.31-inch thick, the Miix 2 8″ also features WiFi and JBL surround speakers. The Miix2’s onboard 64 GB eMMC storage can be expanded by an additional 32GB via a MicroSD card slot.
The tablet has a front-facing 2-megapixel camera and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. Miix 2 comes with a full copy of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013. The tablet will be available in the Philippines by end February.

For those looking for a Windows 8 tablet that delivers higher performance, Lenovo also announced that 11-inch model of the Miix 2.
The Miix 2 11″ is powered by a 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor, offers storage up to 256GB of fast solid state drive storage and a FHD 1920×1200 IPS wide-view display. It also comes with a mini HDMI port to display content on larger screens, an SD card reader, micro USB port and micro SD cards along with USB 2.0 support on the keyboard.
The Lenovo Miix 2 11” will be available in April 2014, with pricing that starts at Php47,990.
