SAS recently announced the 1st SAS Philippines Academic Analytics Conference to be held on February 13. SAS hopes to discover and shape talented minds from their pool of Academic Partners to become the country’s next generation professionals and entrepreneurs.
The conference will allow students and faculty members, as well as business professionals to exchange knowledge and insights on the use of Analytics in all areas of businesses and its impact on the country.
During the event, SAS will name the 1st SAS Analytics Champions, the winners for the Call for Papers competition. Themed “Analytics: Paving the Way Towards Nation Building,” the entries must offer strategic solutions to industry-specific problems, and contribute to social development and national progress.
The Call for Papers competition had a positive turnout with a total of 33 entries from the student division, and six entries from the faculty division. They showcased not only the contestants’ analytical skills but also social awareness towards the nation’s problems. All entries provided critical views and responses to social issues. The top abstracts ranged from the topics on health, trade and tourism, and economics.
Winners will receive a donation for their school’s analytics program and the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts, broaden their knowledge, and improve their skills through the different workshops, presentations, and demos available in SAS Global Forum.
Managing today’s explosion of big data is a challenge. But it also provides new opportunities and powerful insights for those who know how to use it. Through the SAS Global Forum, the participants can learn more about SAS, Analytics, and its application, opening new doors and tapping the nation’s untapped talents.
The conference and competition are open to all undergraduate students and faculty members from the 2013 SAS Academic Partner Institutions including Asia Pacific College, Asian College of Technology, De La Salle Health Sciences, De La Salle University, Mapua Institute of Technology, UP School of Statistics, UP Los Banos Institute of Statistics, University of the East, and University of Sto. Tomas.
“We hope to discover fresh perspectives and new ways of using Analytics towards national development. We believe that young minds, if nurtured correctly and trained properly can really lead this country towards progress,” Maxie Garin, Country Operations Director of SAS Philippines.
The SAS Academic Analytics Conference is part of the SAS Academic Program to bridge the gap between academia and business.
