PLDT among 2013 Worldwide Carrier Ethernet Awards finalists

These annual Awards recognize excellence and leadership in the development, marketing and delivery of Carrier Ethernet Services. They are presented annually for the Global market and Asia-Pacific, North America, EMEA, and Caribbean & Latin American regions.

The finalists for the prestigious 2013 MEF Carrier Ethernet Awards were announced at the MEF quarterly meeting in Seattle this week. These annual awards recognize excellence and leadership in the development, marketing and delivery of Carrier Ethernet Services. They are presented annually for the Global market and Asia-Pacific, North America, EMEA, and Caribbean & Latin American regions.

MEF 2013The judging panel for the global and regional awards was comprised of senior analysts from IDC, Infonetics, Vertical Systems, Gartner, Frost & Sullivan, and Ovum.

“We had an impressive number of quality entries for this year’s Ethernet Awards program, including many excellent case studies related to Carrier Ethernet business applications,” said Nan Chen, president of the MEF. “The MEF congratulates the Finalists for their quality work in accelerating the worldwide adoption of high-performance, productivity-enhancing Carrier Ethernet services.”

This year’s Awards encompassed four specific categories to encourage the widest range of submissions, regardless of company size or footprint.

Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application – recognizes partnerships between Service Providers and their clients in the delivery of Carrier Ethernet services for application verticals.

Best Wholesale Ethernet Service – awarded to the Service Provider with the most robust wholesale service offering extending the reach of Ethernet services, including Mobile Backhaul and Business Ethernet Services.

Best Marketing – awarded to the Service Provider who has run the most successful marketing campaign to promote their Ethernet service portfolio in the period from September 2012 onward. This includes assessment of marketing campaign goals and objectives, how companies differentiated their services, and the results gained.

Service Provider of the Year – awarded on the basis of the cumulative score from the above 3 categories plus additional qualifications related to the company’s location and specific regional coverage.

Global Awards Finalists include the following:
Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application – PCCW Global, SingTel, Verizon
Best Wholesale Ethernet Service – PCCW Global, SingTel, Verizon
Best Marketing – PCCW Global, SingTel, Verizon
Service Provider of the Year – PCCW Global, SingTel, Verizon

Asia-Pacific Awards Finalists include the following:
Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application – SingTel, TATA, Vertical Telecoms
Best Wholesale Ethernet Service – PLDT, SingTel, TATA
Best Marketing – PLDT, SingTel, TATA
Service Provider of the Year – PLDT, SingTel, TATA

North American Awards Finalists include the following:
Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application – AT&T, Comcast, Level 3
Best Wholesale Ethernet Service – AT&T, Comcast, Verizon
Best Marketing – AT&T, Comcast, Verizon
Service Provider of the Year – AT&T, Comcast, Verizon

EMEA Awards Finalists include the following:
Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application – Colt, GTS CE, Verizon
Best Wholesale Ethernet Service – Colt, GTS CE, Telecom Italia
Best Marketing – Colt, GTS CE, Verizon
Service Provider of the Year – Colt, GTS CE

Caribbean & Latin American Awards Finalists include the following:
Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application – Internexa S.A., Level 3
Best Wholesale Ethernet Service – Internexa S.A., Level 3
Best Marketing – Internexa S.A., Verizon
Service Provider of the Year – GlobeNet, Internexa S.A

The MEF is a global industry alliance comprising more than 220 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable MSOs, network equipment/software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations. The MEF’s mission is to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. The MEF develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide.
