According to Doctolero, there is a transformation that is happening in the working environment at present. The Internet penetration rate is increasing while global information was growing nine times in the past year. Meanwhile, the average households with a smartphone in Southeast Asia reached 76%.
Another change that is taking place in the workplace is the Generation Y or the so-called Millenials who are joining the workforce in great number. It is estimated that 75% of this group will be joining the labor force in the next 10 years. Doctolero described millenials as those who think differently and expect immediate response. They cannot remember a word without Google and smartphone and will demand instant 24/7 access to information, applications and services.
A survey conducted on Generation Y found that 70% say old-fashioned meetings are a waste of time while 56% won’t work for company that ban social media, and 69% say going to the office is not needed.
