Locally developed E-Button Platform drew attention in this year’s CommunicAsia, Asia’s largest knowledge-based information and communications technology event held in Singapore.
The E-Button Platform was originally designed as a means to quickly communicate an emergency to the proper authorities with a press of a button. Since then, the platform has evolved and can now be customized for use in customer service, roadside assistance, ordering, timekeeping, and as a virtual concierge system for hotels and villages.
“We received several leads from different countries and although none have commercial value just yet, we are confident that it will lead to partnerships in the near future,” said Junjun Fetizanan, president and general manager of Icon Interactive, Inc., developer of the E-Button Platform.
Lifeline Rescue, which is using the E-button platform for emergency response, is one of their biggest clients. “We can actually partner with BPM and contact center companies to offer the E-button platform for customer service to their clients. Instead of calling, they can just press buttons on their phone to inquire about billing, request for re-connection or give feedback,” said Fetizanan.
Drawing over 35,000 attendees, with more than 1,300 exhibitors from 49 countries, CommunicAsia featured technologies from mobile marketing, services and commerce; key broadband strategies; cloud technologies; enterprise mobility and other latest ICT products and services.
The Philippines has been participating in CommunicAsia for almost a decade. Led by the Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-ICTO) and the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), the Philippine delegation was composed of 10 ICT-related companies, including Icon Interactive.
Other companies that participated in the trade mission include Advance World Systems; Bayantel; Exist; Globe Business; PLDT; Celo Business Solutions; Equinox Virtual Solutions; iVentures, Inc.; and Magellan Solutions Outsourcing, Inc.
During the four-day event, the Philippine delegation, through close coordination with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC), also participated in other events including the Canada ICT Partnering & Investment Forum 2013; the UK Trade and Investment Seminar on UK Communications & Broadcast Technology and Partnering Opportunities in UK; a meeting with the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF); a meeting with the Malaysia’s Cyberjaya; the Australia Networking Reception; business matching with Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SMCCI); a meeting with Victorian companies at the Philippine Pavilion; and a meeting with the US companies at the US Pavilion.
