Twitter just launched a new notification that recommends interesting Tweets and accounts for its users called “Recommendations.”
This new feature provides personalized recommendations when multiple people in your network interact with a user or a Tweet in a similar way. This way, you will not miss out on any great Tweets or be the last one to find out about someone awesome joins Twitter.
“We built this feature based on an experimental account, @MagicRecs,” says Venu Sataluri, Sr. Software Engineer, Search & Relevance at Twitter. “As its bio notes, @MagicRecs “sends instant, personalized recommendations for users and content via direct message”. Over time, we’ve been tweaking the algorithms –– based on engagement and your feedback –– in order to send only the most relevant updates.”
Sataluri explains that Twitter for Android and Twitter for iPhone users will receive recommendations via a push notification.
As with any notification, you can change your settings at any time; you can turn these notifications off or on with the “Recommendations” toggle in your notifications settings.
Meanwhile, Twitter will continue to use @MagicRecs as an experiment, says Sataluri.
