New BlackBerry Q5 smartphone launches in PH

BlackBerry’s latest smartphone, the BlackBerry Q5, will be available in the Philippines beginning August 24, 2013.

Available in black, the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone features a classic QWERTY keyboard re-engineered for optimized typing and a 3.1” touchscreen. The phones comes loaded with BlackBerry 10 version 10.1.

Kristian Salvo, Country Manager for the Philippines at Blackberry said, “We are excited to bring the new Blackberry Q5 smartphone to the Philippines. The Blackberry Q5 smartphone offers a great experience to customers who want to have the power of Blackberry 10 with a QWERTY keyboard in a stylish youthful design, making it easy for them to have fun and stay socially connected with those that matter most to them.”

With the expansion of the BlackBerry product range, the company is looking to have BlackBerry getting in the hands of the Filipinos, making it more affordable and accessible, and it is looking at ways to make this happened.

According to Salvo, BlackBerry Q5 is intended for variety of different customers: students, fresh grads looking for the first job, young executives, parents looking to be more engaged with their family and children, first-time smartphone users, and corporations looking to provide the best mobile experience to their mobile workforce. “We look at them as one. We call them as BlackBerry people.”

The BlackBerry Q5 boasts of the following features: the BlackBerry Hub where a user can peek to see massages and conversations; the BBM Video with Screen Share which shows pictures, imagery, and videos and even business documents; the camera Time Shift mode which creates a perfect shot; and the BlackBerry Story Maker where a user can take pictures into videos and having his own voice over.

To provide the best level of support for its customers, the company established three BlackBerry Expert Centers (BECs) in the Philippines. These BECs are located in Makati City (Jaka Center); Cebu (Robinson’s Center); and in Davao (MCCC Mall).

Swap, Switch and Win Campaign

BlackBerry has also announced that the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone will be available at a special offer to participating malls and BlackBerry stores, from August 24 to 25.

Through the Swap, Switch, and Win campaign, those interested in being part of the BlackBerry Barkada and being one of the first in the country to own a BlackBerry Q5 smartphone can go to the Blackberry Mall Caravan located at Glorietta 1, Ground Floor (near SM Makati) and the four BlackBerry stores located at the Cyberzone of SM Mega Mall, SM North EDSA, SM Sta. Rosa and SM Pampanga.

The BlackBerry Q5 smartphone will be available at PHP18,690 less PHP2,000 and the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone.

The campaign allows anyone to swap a working or non-working mobile phone, switch to a brand-new BlackBerry smartphone, and even take home discount coupons from Zalora and enter a draw for a chance to win the All-New Ford Focus 1.6L PS 4DR Sedan or one of three BlackBerry Z10 smartphones.

Early bird discount will also be available for those who Swap and Switch to a BlackBerry Q5 smartphone at the following participating stores: Fonestyle at SM North EDSA, and BSD International at the SM Mall of Asia.

To join the promotion, bring a working or non-working mobile phone to any BlackBerry Mall Caravan or participating store. The mobile phone to be traded does not need its box  or original accessories, nor does it need to be under any warranty. It will be evaluated for its fair market value that is to be deducted from the cost of the BlackBerry smartphone to be purchased.

Customers may also opt to choose other BlackBerry smartphones. For example, they can get the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone, the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone to feature a classic BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard, at PHP 31,990 less the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone.

Customers may also own the first all-touch smartphone to be powered by BlackBerry 10, the sleek BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, at PHP 29,990 less PHP 2,000 and the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone.

The compact and sleek BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone can be purchased at PHP8,990 less PHP1,000 and the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone.

The BlackBerry Curve 9220 smartphone will also be available at PHP6,990 less PHP1,000 and the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone.

All BlackBerry smartphone sold at BlackBerry stores, BlackBerry Mall Caravan and other participating stores come with a 24-month warranty.
