Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, today opened its first business hub in Mandaue City, Cebu. The expansion marks the company’s first foray outside of Manila.
“Southeast Asia is currently the fastest growing region for Bosch. The size of the Filipino domestic market holds great potential for Bosch to expand our operations beyond Manila into other cities,” said Martin Hayes, President of Bosch Southeast Asia.
Hailed as one of the most progressive metropolitan areas in the Philippines, the Queen City of the South is now seen as a viable investment destination for foreign businesses. Cebu presents opportunities with its population size, high spending power, and robust growth in the real estate, business process outsourcing (BPO) and tourism industries.
Bosch also sees prospects in the province’s thriving construction industry, as the local demand for commercial and housing units increase. The number of real estate and construction projects for hotels, commercial and residential buildings doubled in 2012, and is expected to triple this year.
“There is a tremendous growth in sales and market interest generated from Cebu alone that makes it economically viable for us to expand into,” said Joseph Hong, Managing Director of Bosch Philippines. “A local presence in Cebu enables us to better serve the Visayan region with our diverse range of products and solutions across industries.”
In cooperation with a local distribution partner, Bosch now sells its Power Tools in 13 showroom locations across Cebu. Bosch is also bullish about the automotive industry in the province, as domestic demand for automotive products is expected to remain robust in 2013, according to a recent study by the Department of Trade and Industry.
To provide expertise in the field of automotive electronics, Bosch established a Bosch Car Service (BCS) workshop and a Bosch Diesel Service (BDS) in Cebu. BCS and BDS offer professional diagnosis, maintenance and repair services for all gasoline and diesel vehicle models, built on the foundation of technical expertise and outstanding quality, supported by strong global branding.
Earlier this year, Bosch pioneered a community development project in Barangay Pari-an, Cebu, as part of its Skil Paint the Town Red campaign, which aims to generate livelihood projects for community members through workshops and power tool donations.
